Inorder to produce skilled women technicians, in Salem town, Govt. of Tamilnadu established this ITI exclusively for Women in 1990 under World Bank scheme. As per the demand and employability, four trades namely COPA, Instrument Mechanic, Stenography, ICTSM were started.
After IMC took over the ITI, four new trades were introduced viz. Draughtsman Civil, Electronic Mechanic, Front Office Assistant & Hospital Housekeeping. A new three storied building was constructed at the cost of Rs. 62.50 lakhs to accommodate the four new trades which has well-equipped laboratories, classrooms and library with sufficient fans and furniture. It also has hygienic wash rooms and toilets with incinerator. All labs are equipped with net connectivity and high capacity invertors.
